His and Hers: The Benefits Of The Shared Wedding Shower

Jack and Jill, buck and doe, or his and hers; yes, there are many different monikers for what is now the popular gender-neutral pre-wedding party. In the past few years couples have been ditching traditional showers for a more communal gathering. These are informal and very fun events for the bride and groom’s friends and family. Best of all, they’re done without dividing the parties.

These Jack and Jill showers can take on many forms and identities. We’ve witnessed the inception of these celebrations at SpeechBooth, and here are some great reasons to throw a his and her shower:

No competition between parties: There’s no competition between bride and groom within this shared party. There can be no hurt feelings because one side “upstaged” the other with their party. If the bridal shower was held at the local Cheesecake Factory and the groomsmen decided to sweep the groom off to South Beach for a wild weekend, bad bloo

d may occur between sides. With a shared party, both bride and groom decide on how they want the occasion to happen in harmony.

Themes are always fun: Many of these Jack and Jill showers have creative themes for the guests to follow. Think of a college party without the total lack of judgment. These parties can be backyard BBQs, tailgating, skydiving, kitten wrestling, or whatever the bride and groom desire. Within reasonable consideration of their guests’

enjoyment, wedding couples have come up with some incredibly fun and innovative way to celebrate their union.

An informal co-ed gathering: There’s plenty of pressure when it comes to planning weddings and all the events that go with them. Guest lists, venues, bookings, themes, and all other logistics involved with a wedding can exhaust both the bride and groom.  The Jack and Jill shower is a chance for the bride and groom to have a fun, relaxed time with all their best friends and family members. SpeechBooth has attended a few Jack and Jill showers; the speeches are fun and the aura is carefree. It is truly a wonderful occasion to behold.

There are many rules to follow during the wedding, the reception, the engagement party, and other events. If something’s gotta give, let it give with the bridal shower, and enjoy a “Jack and Jill” good time.
