Its hard to say what elements can makes a wedding truly ‘great’. Obviously there are the people–friends, family, (and maybe some randoms)–and the memories that will be made with them. However, “the event”, is where we find ourselves spending hours, days, weeks, months planning. We want our guests to be entertained. We want to create a great atmosphere where lasting memories are created and cherished for a lifetime.
Sometimes the struggle with trends is real and to make it all fit together. After all, you are the one getting married, it should be easy, right? Being honest with what you want versus the wants of family, that trendy blog or pinterest tells us be a balancing act.
Thus, we come to a hotly debated piece of the wedding puzzle: fashion. Many brides-to-be and grooms-in-waiting have spent hours (and tears) debating what their fashion choices will be on their wedding day.
There are the small choices to be made, such as: should I go with three button or two button suit? Double breasted? Waistcoat? Top hat? Do I do the lobster tie theme that I’ve always desired?
Or, does my wedding dress need to have pearls and sequins? Should I go millennial pink? Should the shoes be ruby red or turtle turquoise? Too bold for Mom?
Then there are the big choices to be made, like: do I honor the promise I made Grandpa on his deathbed and wear his leisure suit on my wedding day? Or, Aunt Bettie asked if I’d wear her purple cape down the aisle; could the purple cape disappear without anyone knowing?
Our real-lift decisions are rarely this comical (or easy to decide) and yet they can be seriously taxing to try and solve.
Weddings–as in life–we often find ourselves between a rock and hard place when honoring family, fashion, or pursuing a different trend. There’s often a balance to be found in these situations–but ultimately we all know there a one ‘right’ way and everyone else can just get on with it ?.
Still, it is possible to both be fashionable, family oriented, and get exactly what you want. After the ceremony is over and everyone starts to relax, send your guests over to SpeechBooth to tell you how awesome you look.
